Papers of the Texas Revolution
In the late 1960s to early 1970s, Gen. Jay A. Matthews compiled and transcribed all known orders, letters, and reports of the Texas Revolution. Texas bookman and publisher John H. Jenkins annotated the compilation. It was published by Matthews’s Presidial Press in 1973 and remains the most comprehensive reference work on the Revolution fifty years later. The book are arranged chronologically, as follows:
Volume I: Jan. 1, 1835 to Sept. 30, 1835.
Volume II: Oct. 1, 1835 to Nov. 26, 1835.
Volume III: Nov. 27, 1835 to Jan. 13, 1836.
Volume IV: Jan 14, 1836 to March 5, 1836.
Volume V: March 6, 1836 to April 20, 1836.
Volume VI: April 21, 1836 to June 3, 1836.
Volume VII: June 4, 1836 to July 21, 1836.
Volume VIII: July 22, 1836 to Sept. 23, 1836.
Volume IX: Sept. 24, 1836 to Oct. 24, 1836 with addenda of various dates, as well as Dr. Field’s Three Years in Texas, Journals of the Consultation (1835) and Journals of the Convention (1836).
